My First Time Blogging

My First Time Blogging
I'm over at Lisa's house and she's showing me how to get started with Blogger. Can't wait to get home and start sharing pictures with friends and family.

Thanks to Lisa for fostering Agnes (Aggie) and her little boy! Aggie was found in our Church Parking Lot at the end of my lane about 4 weeks ago. She was very thin and young. I was feeding her very well. She was becoming noticeable stouter. Yes, she was pregnant. It was a Saturday morning (May 16, 2009 just before 4 a.m.) when she climbed into bed with me went into labor. She must of been frightened with the pain and not knowing what was happening. I found a nice soft blanket (it's actually my favorite very snuggly soft blanket) and placed it in a clean box. It was about two hours later when she had one stillborn. About another hour and she had another stillborn. Even though they were not alive, the nurturing instinct took over and she began cleaning their tiny little bodies. It was now time for me to go down to my Dad's farm to start feeding his critters. I did not want to leave her but she was managing very well. When I arrived back home about an hour later she had the little boy as I was entering the room. She was licking him. He was very much alive looking for milk immediately. Aggie is so sweet and a very good mother. She loves her little boy. She is very protective with her son when it comes to the other animals getting too close to him. My dogs and cats realize very quickly not to go near her with the new baby. Aggie is very trusting with humans and has no problem with us holding her baby.

I want to thank Lisa so very much for fostering these two beautiful critters. I only have this one heart and these two hands and it's just not enough love to go around with all my other animals to care for at the farm. I know Lisa will give Aggie and the new little boy the love and attention they deserve.
